Help For The Homeless – Hygiene Drive

Supporting Our Homeless Neighbors: A Community Effort

At the Solutions Center, Fond du Lac, we understand the challenges faced by our homeless community. Our mission is to offer not just shelter, but also compassion, support, and practical resources. Homelessness is a multifaceted issue, often intertwined with factors like unemployment, mental health, and family crises. By collaborating with local organizations and volunteers, we aim to provide a holistic approach to support, including food, healthcare, and job assistance. Together, we can create a network of care and hope, helping our neighbors find stability and dignity in their lives.

Help for the Homeless Hygiene Drive

The Family’s ‘Help for the Homeless’ drive, a yearly initiative, collaborates with the community to supply over 100 homeless and crisis programs across 19 Wisconsin communities with a year’s worth of hygiene products. Donations stay within the donor’s community. Over 32 years, the drive has contributed $5.4 million in supplies. In 2023, over 900 businesses, churches, and schools participated, collecting $665,000 worth of essential items like laundry soap and toothpaste, directly benefiting local crisis programs.

Here’s how you can help:

Donate Supplies at Walgreens and Festival Foods

Please consider donating new, unopened hygiene and cleaning products by placing them in the designated drop-off boxes at select stores. These collection boxes are conveniently located near the entrances or checkout areas for easy access.

Urgently needed supplies include:

  • Deodorant (unscented)
  • Diapers (sizes 3-6 and Pull-Ups)
  • Disposable razors
  • Paper towels
  • Soaps: laundry, dish, soft, shower gel, 2-in-1 shampoo
  • Tampons and maxi pads
  • Toilet paper
  • Trash bags (shelters especially need these for bedrooms)
  • Wet wipes
