Adopt-A-Family & Baskets of Hope Support Needed

Solutions Center Shelter and Support Services will once again be hosting a Christmas Adopt-a-Family program for its clients and is looking for sponsors.

Clients include adults and children who are victims of domestic violence and/or victims of homelessness or impending homelessness. A great majority of those in the program are recent or current residents.

Sponsors can be individuals, families, civic groups, small businesses or large corporations. The first step in adopting a family is to fill out an interest form which can be found by clicking below:

AAF — 2014 Questionnaire

Those wishing to help but not able to commit to a sponsorship adoption can assist with monetary donations, store gift cards, a new toy or personal items to be used as much needed last-minute gifts.

Solutions Center works with other local agencies to ensure that while holiday needs are met, families are not benefiting from assistance at more than one agency.

Another option of support is through the Baskets of Hope Program. These baskets, laundry baskets filled with personal hygiene items and cleaning supplies, are given away when clients move out of shelter and into a home of their own.  Suggested fillers include: laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, all-purpose and toilet bowl cleaner, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bath towels, dish soap, Kleenex and garbage bags.
